Cadmium Yellow Medium
| Cadmium Yellow Medium is not
a primary color or a secondary color on a 36 color wheel. It's necessary
to go this deep into a color wheel for usable colors because of the lack
of a transparent yellow in acrylics and the almost unknown color in oil
paint.
Indian Yellow Original is impossible to get today since it was taken off the market in 1900. Old Holland has been the only company making it as a synthetic transparent yellow color since then. Danial Smith has recently entered the market but with only the Golden Side not the Brown Side which is necessary to mix a dark neutral dark with it's complementary color Translucent Ultramarine Blue PB29 or better yet, it's transparent opposite color Indanthrone Blue PG60. The neutral dark for this set of complementary colors can be made by mixing Indian Yellow Brownside Transparent and Indanthrone Blue Transparent. |
Opposite color, Ultramarine Deep or Indanthrone Blue.
