Mussini Naples Yellow Light, Opaque
Opposite color, Mussini Cobalt Blue Light, Opaque,
Naples Yellow is made
of antimony lead, a very dense pigment, denser than Lead White. The
higher it is fired the lighter it gets and the more expensive it is. There
were about six shades of Naples Yellow that were popular, including,
Naples Yellow was a basic flesh tone. Because it was so expensive Lead-Tin Yellow was a replacement during hard times, as when Rembrandt was alive. Today it is usually just a composition color and not nearly as opaque. Go for the gold and get the real thing, color is everything! |
